This article provides general guidance on configuring a CNAME record.  For specific steps to set up your custom domain, see How do I set up my custom domain (cname) [VIDEO].

General CNAME Record Set Up Instructions

If we do not have CNAME record set up instructions for your host, these directions should help you make the necessary changes.  We'd also appreciate if you let us know who your host is by emailing support@unbounce.com so we can look at putting some specific instructions together.

  1. Sign in to the account where you manage your domain
  2. Track down the DNS management page and look for a section called 'CNAME records'
  3. Create a new CNAME record for your subdomain.  For example, if you picked www.cheapelephants.com as your custom domain, create the record for  www or, if you're using a custom subdomain such as promos.cheapelephants.com create the record for promos
  4. For the Destination or Points to value, put unbouncepages.com

  5. Save your changes.
That's it!  Once the CNAME record has time to propagate, your custom domain will point to Unbounce!

If your CNAME record doesn't seem to be working quite right, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot it
